Starting Off Right

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Oh Father, do You hear my heart, today?
It seems as though You’re miles and miles away.
I’ve bowed my head; my knees have hit the floor.
I’ve shut my eyes, and closed distraction’s door.

Lord, I’m about to start another day;
And wouldn’t start it any other way
Than knowing You will be there, by my side;
To be my strength, my comfort, and my guide.

If there is aught between us, make it known;
For I would bare my soul before Your throne;
So that our fellowship, this day, is sweet.
Without You, my day wouldn’t be complete.

Now, Lord, I’m ready for this day to start.
Please fill me with Your own, impassioned heart.

"O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;"
Psalm 63:1a
