Let Go

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“Then Jesus, beholding him, loved him, and said unto him…
‘come, take up the cross, and follow Me.’
And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved;
For he had great possessions.” Mark 10:21-22 KJV

You said you gave your life to Me,
But you’re still holding on;
Afraid to give Me full control;
Sure something may go wrong.

You said you want to follow Me,
But you still run ahead;
Not content to keep My pace,
Or trace the path I tread.

Dear child, you seem so weary as
You’ve charted your own way.
Make Me the Captain of your life;
Release the wheel today!

And though the waters may seem rough,
You’ll never be alone;
For I will guide you through them till
I bring you safely home.
