Healer of Broken Hearts

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“…the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted…
To comfort all who mourn,”
Isaiah 61:1-2 NKJV

When hearts break into pieces
And fall into the dust,
That’s when our Father bends down
And gently scoops them up.

He wipes away the dust and
The tears that mingle in,
Then puts those broken pieces
Together, once again.

But as He does, He fashions
A heart that is brand new,
One far bigger and stronger
From all that it’s been through.

And once God heals that heart so
It’s beating once again,
It can, then, better reach out
To help a broken friend.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV
