You Leave Me Wanting More

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Oh Lord, You satisfy my soul;
And yet, I want still more.
For when I’m in Your presence I
Can feel my spirit soar
To where you lead me by the stream
Where living waters flow;
Or to the mountaintops where Your
Sweet voice I’ve come to know.
You draw me to Your side, where I
Am sheltered in Your love.
And when I leave, I find it’s You
My heart keeps thinking of.
This hunger that’s within me is
A gift that leads me to
The only place I’m satisfied –
Dear Lord, that is with You.
Don’t take the hunger from me, Lord;
But may it always be
A deep desire burning with
A passion, Lord, for Thee.
“Listen! My beloved!
    Look! Here he comes…
My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag.
    Look! There he stands behind our wall,
gazing through the windows,
    peering through the lattice.
My beloved spoke and said to me,
    “Arise, my darling,
    my beautiful one, come with me.’”
Song of Solomon 2:8-10 NIV
