Lead Me Gently, Savior

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Lead me steadfastly, Savior;
My steps are firm and steady.
For You have given me new life;
And for Your task I’m ready.

Lead me joyfully, Savior;
My steps are light and sweet.
For You have filled my heart with praise,
And made my life complete.

Lead me gently, Savior;
My steps now pained and slow.
For I have fallen many times…
And have so far to go.

Lead me home, Dear Savior;
For You know what is best.
My steps have slowed with trial and time.
Now in Your arms I’ll rest.

"Listen to Me, O house of Jacob,
And all the remnant of the house of Israel,
Who have been upheld by Me from birth…
Even to your old age, I am He,
And even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear;
Even I will carry, and will deliver you."
Isaiah 46:3-4
