Through the Veil

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

(my prayer)
It seems there is a veil that hangs before me,
Through which my searching eyes have strained to see.
You’ve asked me to press on, the path now hidden.
One step ahead is all that’s clear to me.
Oh Lord, I am afraid when I can’t see You;
Though in my heart I know You must be near.
Please speak my name, and draw me ever closer;
That I may follow on, amidst my fear.
The veil remains. And darkness still surrounds me.
But You have grasped me firmly by the hand.
I’ll trust You, Lord, to lead me in Your mercy;
And guide me in the path that You have planned.
(His response)
“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD,
‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
