Because You Are There

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Though doubts and fears swirl round my head
At night, as I crawl into bed,
Still I can sleep, release my cares
Because I know that You are there.

When all forsake, and friends betray,
And loneliness would steal the day,
I’ll turn to You, my Friend, in prayer
Because I know that You are there.

When I must let a child go
Into a world I may not know,
I trust he’ll be safe anywhere
Because I know that You are there.

And when it’s time for me to die,
I know, to You, I’ll swiftly fly.
Then no more burdens will I bear
Because I know that You are there.

“I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”
Psalm 4:8 NKJV
