You Don’t Know Me

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

You know I healed the lame, and cured the blind man.
You know I brought a child back from the dead.
You even know that I created all there is to see.
You’ve stored all these facts neatly in your head.
You read my Word each day to learn about Me.
And while that is a perfect place to start,
I’m longing for the day when you will finally learn to see
That what I’m really wanting is your heart.
For if I had your heart then you would see Me
The many times a day you pass Me by.
You’d recognize the sound of My voice whispering your name,
Though it may be no stronger than a sigh.
Yes, you know all about…but do not know Me.
And until now, you’ve thought that was enough.
But I want you to see that there is so much more to Me;
You’ve only just begun to know My love.
Is there a longing in your heart for more?
Then come with Me, for blessings are in store…
“So it was, while they conversed and reasoned,
that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.”
