How Long, O Lord?

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

How long, O Lord, must I wait for Thee
To hear my cry and rescue me?
For I have sought, but cannot find
Thy guiding hand to cling to mine.

Still I will wait, and praise Thy name,
Though circumstance remains the same.
For in my heart I know ‘twill be
That Thou wilt do what’s best for me.

Be near me as I wait then, Lord;
And send me comfort from Thy Word.
Strengthen my faith and give me peace,
Until Thou grantest sweet release.

“My soul is in anguish.
How long, O LORD, how long?”
Psalm 6:3 NIV
