Strength For Today

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Strength for today, dear Lord, I ask;
Lend me Thy strength to do each task.
Naught of tomorrow’s cares I seek;
Only today’s, for I am weak.
And, Lord, for faith to rest in Thee,
I would before Thy throne but plea.
For Thou hast brought me to this place;
And art a God of love and grace.
So grant me peace and strength, this day;
Faith to sustain me, light for my way,
Joy, knowing that Thou lovest me;
And shalt, throughout all eternity.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory
in my infirmities, that the power
of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
