Your Face, Lord

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“When You said, ‘Seek My face,’
My heart said to You,
‘Your face, Lord, I will seek.’”
Psalm 27:8 NKJV
Lord, draw me ever closer as I pray.
Help me to seek Your face throughout this day,
Not just to know Your will, but also be
Learning to know You, Lord, as You know me.
For Lord, as I spend more time in Your Word,
And meditate on what I’ve read and heard,
I find Your still, small voice become more clear
As, irresistibly, You draw me near.
And Lord, I find that we need never part.
You’ve promised to remain here, in my heart;
A truth that’s sometimes hard to comprehend –
That You, my God, would long to be my Friend.
So in this moment, and the whole day through,
Help me to keep my eyes, Lord, fixed on You.
