A Child, In Thine Hands

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Lord, draw me back into Thy loving arms;
For I have tried to do things, on my own,
Instead of kneeling here, before Thy throne;
And found myself entrapped by worldly charms.

But now, I long for Thine embrace, once more;
The emptiness within me crying out,
As if, to Heaven’s gate, its voice would shout,
“Please hold me, Father, as Thou didst before!”

Now, I am but a child in Thine hands.
With broken heart, surrendered will, I come.
Lord, in Thy tender arms, please take me home
Where I can rest in Thine embrace, again.

Oh, hear me, Father, as I cry to Thee;
Please take me in Thine hands, and rescue me.

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me…
and thy right hand shall save me."
Psalm 138:7
