Clinging to Jesus

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“Who is this coming up from the wilderness,
Leaning upon her beloved?”
Song of Solomon 8:5

Clinging to the arm that safely holds me,
Clinging to the feet that firmly stand,
Clinging to the heart that set my own free,
Clinging to the One who takes my hand.

Clinging, like my very life demands it,
For, if I let go, I’d surely fall.
Trusting, for His very Word commands it;
Knowing He’s the One on whom to call.

Clinging, ever tighter…ever longer
To the One whose ransom rescued me.
Finding His support can make me stronger.
Bound to Him, my soul is truly free.

Clinging to my Savior, now I know
He’s been holding me, and won’t let go.
