When My Father Calls

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

(a prayer response to Habakkuk 1:12)
“Lord, are you not from everlasting?
My God, my Holy One…my Rock”
Habakkuk 1:12a NIV
How awesome it is, Lord, that You
Bend down to where I am
And speak to me so tenderly,
Just like Your little lamb,
Reminding me that You are holy,
Righteous, just, and pure.
And that You are the Rock on which
My hope is made secure.
How could I not then answer when
Your voice calls out my name?
I will not doubt if You should call,
But now with boldness claim
My place within Your family as
A child of the King.
I’ll come to you expectantly,
Not fearing anything.
For when I hear the voice of my
Great Shepherd, King, and Lord,
I’ll answer as a child who’s loved,
And chosen, and adored.
