Do You Know, Child...

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

My child
do you know
that I carried you

when the waters grew too deep
the flames too hot
the path too rough

That I carried you
when you were
too weary to walk
too sick to even stand
too broken to go on

My child
do you know
that I carried you
though you squirmed to be free
though you stiffened your arms
to push away from Me

My child
do you know
that I carried you

That I carry you still…

“and in the wilderness. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you,
as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”
Deuteronomy 1:31 NIV
