Waiting in the Wings

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

When answers are not coming as
I seek God’s face in prayer,
When I have watched and listened but
I just can’t feel Him there,

When things seem to be getting worse,
And it’s hard to believe,
That’s not the time to turn away
For God’s still holding me.

His answers may seem slow in coming;
But they’re not, to Him.
He knows just when it’s best, and He’ll
Not answer until then.

He’s teaching me to trust more through
The deepest, hardest things.
And all the while, I’m tucked in safely –
Waiting in His wings.

“I will seek refuge in the shadow of Your wings
until danger passes.
I call to God Most High,
to God who fulfills His purpose for me.
He reaches down from heaven and saves me…
God sends His faithful love and truth.”
Psalm 57:1b-3 HCSB
