Taking on Giants

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“We went to the land where you sent us.
It truly flows with milk and honey…
Nevertheless the people who
dwell in the land are [giants].
Then Caleb quieted the people
before Moses, and said,
‘Let us go up at once and take possession,
for we are well able to overcome it.’”
Numbers 13:27b-28, 30 NKJV

When God gives us a task to do
With giants in the way,
That’s not the time to turn and run,
But kneel, instead, to pray -
Acknowledging that in His strength
We can do awesome things;
Then hasten forward to possess
Whatever this day brings.

“’Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.’
But we are not of those who draw back…”
Hebrews 10:38-39a NKJV
