When we’re left with only questions,
And the tear stains on our cheeks,
When we’ve asked the Lord for mercy,
But His answer’s left us weak
With our faith stretched past its limits,
And our hearts pierced through and through,
That is when we find in Jesus
That His heart is breaking, too.
For He hears our cries of anguish.
And He feels our deepest pain.
He is weeping there, beside us
As He wipes each salty stain.
We are not alone in sorrow;
Jesus holds us in our grief.
As He wraps His arms around us,
We’re surrounded by His peace.
Then He whispers that He loves us,
That He always has, and will;
That our prayers are not forgotten,
That He cares, and loves us still.
And it’s then our hearts surrender
Leaning hard into His breast,
Learning just how much He loves us;
Finding that His way is best.
“Then you will experience God’s peace,
which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds
as you live in Christ Jesus.”
