Levees that Break

“Our arteries need to be levees that break.
If God’s love is getting in, it should also be
getting back out.”
* Beth Moore
In this world of hearts grown cold,
Where we’ve believed the lie we’re told
That we must bind ourselves up tight
Against the pain and dark of night,
Against a love that someday might betray…
So it would not be worth it anyway,
We then become so bound that we
No longer feel, no longer see
The love God wants to pour inside –
A perfect love that stems the tide
Of pain
And how can we then share that love
Available from God above
If we won’t open to receive
That pouring in when we believe
He’s love.
Oh that our arteries would be
But broken levees filling seas
Of others who are seeking, too,
What God’s poured into me and you –
His perfect love.
“Dear friends, since God so loved us,
we also ought to love one another.
…if we love one another, God lives in us
and his love is made complete in us.”
