And Then!

"…as the nails pierced and bruised the heels of Jesus’ feet…
Satan seemed the victor.
The demons rejoiced because now
they were sure they had been right
in choosing to follow Satan!
For three days it looked as if the war had been won.

Then the stone was rolled away!”
*Kay Arthur

It looked as if the devil’d won.
He’d slain God’s own beloved Son;
His body sealed tight in a tomb,
Closed deep within an earthen womb.

For days Jesus’ disciples mourned.
They’d watched their Lord be mocked and torn,
Hung on a cross; and there, He’d died
As Hell rejoiced, while Heaven cried.

But with the third day’s dawning light,
God’s power burst through the dark of night –
His might and glory on display;
And then… the stone was rolled away!

“There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven
and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid,
for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
Matthew 28:2, 5-6 NIV

“’Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?’
But thanks be to God!
He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:55, 57 NIV
