Birth of a New Day

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“I rise before the dawning of the morning…
I hope in Your word.”
Psalm 119:147 NKJV
Swiftly crowns the dawning of the day,
Birthed in rays of hope; a bold display,
As sun breeches the darkness of the night,
Brought forth by Him who lends the star its light;
Who simply speaks, and thus it came to be,
Reflecting its Creator’s majesty.
All praise to Him who rules both night and day;
Who sits enthroned in Heaven’s bright array.
And yet, when sun sinks low and earth would sleep,
A faithful vigil ever does He keep
Until a new day’s birth comes round again.
For God is both Beginning and the End.
“If I take the wings of the morning…
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;”
Psalm 139:9-11 NKJV

I am so proud of you for getting this up and going. You have inspired me with your beautiful words and prodded me to go through mine to try to edit and organize them in some logical fashion. I hope that by this time next year, I, too, will have something to show for it. :-)

Thank you, Ellen! I'm excited to see what the Lord has in store for both of us, as we follow His leading. ;-)
