Love: the First Corinthians Kind

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Am I loving others well?
By my love, can others tell
That Christ is in me?

Love is patient, kind, and true,
Is not boastful, proud or rude.
It bears all things.

It’s full of hope and full of faith,
Not demanding its own way.
For love can see

That loving like the Savior does
Means loving others well because
He lives in me.

And He is Love.

“Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV
