He Speaks to Me

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

 God speaks to me…not audibly,
But straight into my heart;
With messages of love and mercy,
Healing to impart,

Songs of purest joy and praise,
Words of love and grace;
Leading others to the cross,
And Jesus’ precious face.

I marvel that he uses me;
It’s not of my accord.
I simply must step back and give
All glory to the Lord.

For gifts that He entrusts to me
Are not of me, but Him.
I simply offer God my hands,
My feet, my voice…my pen.

There is a key to hearing God -
It’s time spent in His Word;
And finding time alone with Him,
Where His voice can be heard.

For my desire must always be
To please and honor God.
I’ll be content to wait, and move
With His approving nod.

"Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
  as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD ?
  To obey is better than sacrifice,
  and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
1 Samuel 15:22
