Time in the Wasteland Need Not Be Wasted Time

“And you shall remember that the LORD your God
led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness,
to humble you and test you,to  know what was in your heart,
whether you would keep His commandments or not.”
Deuteronomy 8:2 NKJV
My throat is parched, for want of Thee.
This wasteland, Lord, is all I see.
But even here, Thou leadest me;
And I will follow, desperately.
Thy face, oh Lord, is not in view.
But I know what Thou wouldst I do -
Just take each step, and follow through;
For Thou wilt lead me, well and true.
And then, the living stream that flows
Out from Thy throne runs from below
The Rock before me; and I know
My God has quenched this barren soul.
Oh, what relief Thou grantest me -
My Rock, my Refuge. Faithfully
Thou hast restored my soul to see
The joy that comes in trusting Thee.
“…for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them:
and that Rock was Christ.”
1 Corinthians 10:4 NKJV
