God of the Little Things Too

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing?
and one of them shall not fall
on the ground without your Father.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value
than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10:29-31 KJV
There’ve been so many trials and tests
My Lord has brought me safely through
That I sometimes seem to forget
My God’s a God of the little things, too.
Surely a God who never fails
To see a sparrow when it falls,
Even while moving kings and tides,
Is God of both the big and small.
So I’ll no longer hesitate
To bring Him even “little” cares.
He sees the gray upon my head;
He’s numbered each and every hair.
There’s no concern too small for Him.
He says to cast them at His throne
And leave them there for Him to bear,
Relying on His strength, alone.
So with a God so full of grace,
All that is really left to do
Is praise Him, as He meets my needs –
The big ones, and the little ones, too.
"Casting all your care upon him;
for he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7 NKJV
