Because This Land Is Your Land

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

This land is your land; this land is my land.
It’s time we make an impassioned prayer stand;
Lift up this nation to Heaven, faithfully.
This is God’s call to you and me.

As we go walking through our towns and cities,
Let’s bow our heads and get down on our knees.
And as we travel the rolling countryside,
May we in prayer for her abide.

For this land is your land; this land is my land.
Let’s join our hearts now, and reach for God’s hand.
For it’s a privilege and charge we share -
To lift up America in prayer.

“If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray,
and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
