“One thing have I desired of the Lord,
that will I seek after; that I may dwell in
the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to enquire in his temple.”
Psalm 27:4 KJV
I say the words so often, Lord.
But are they really true?
Is it my heart’s greatest desire
To love and follow you?
So many things in this world, Lord,
Will clamor for my time.
But You were David’s one desire.
Oh Lord… that You’d be mine.
Help me to be so focused, Lord,
That I see only You;
Knowing the rest will fall in place
As You have said they’ll do.
May this, Lord, be my one desire –
To dwell with You always;
And see, oh Lord, as David did
The beauty in Your gaze,
To know Your hand upon me, and
To find in You a place
Of shelter, strength, and mercy, and
The wonder of Your grace.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33 KJV
